Welcome to the BES Before & After School Clubs! We are sure that you and your child will find lots of exciting activities to choose from. This year we are offering some new clubs and, of course, lots of the favorites are returning. Registration, like last year, will be done 100% online.
Please note that there are several different types of activities that occur at BES before and after school.
- BES HOSTED CLUBS: These are the clubs that the PTA coordinates. They are often, but not always, staffed by BES teachers or talented parents. Registration for these clubs is run by the PTA and will be done online this year. These clubs are shown in BOLD on our daily clubs chart shown on our PTA website. This chart also lists activities not hosted by BES to make scheduling easier for our parents. However, it should be noted that the inclusion of such activities on this list does not mean the PTA is responsible for them.
- CLUBS NOT HOSTED BY BES: These clubs are run by outside organizations and they have their own registration process. The Clubs section on the BES PTA website will direct you to the websites of these outside organizations. Please contact the organization and not the BES PTA for additional information.
- SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS: Our fields are often used by different sports organizations for after school activities. Because these activities take place at BES, we include them so parents can be aware of all after school options at BES. These programs have their own registration process. The Clubs section on our website will direct you to the websites of these organizations. Please contact the organization and not the BES PTA for additional information.
Please review these simple instructions and remember that online registration for BES HOSTED CLUBS starts on September 6th and closes on September 9th. No late registrations can be accepted.
How Do You Register for a Club?
Here's how it all works:
- To register for a class, log on to the BES PTA website: http://www.bannockburn-pta.org/home.html.
- Click on the Clubs & Activities section found on the top banner.
- You can use the pull-down menu to read descriptions of all our club offerings.
- When you are ready to register for the clubs, use the pull-down menu to select Register. You will be directed to a secure website to make your payment.
- You will be contacted by the clubs coordinator by email to confirm your enrollment and to coordinate volunteering. If your child is closed out of a particular club due to over-subscription, we will make every attempt to contact you individually and give your child an opportunity to enroll in another club or offer you a refund.
- Please be careful when registering for clubs. DO NOT attempt to sign up your child for a club that is not offered for his/her grade level. The system may process your request but this does not mean that your child will be granted permission to attend. The grade ranges are created at the discretion of the instructors.

How Many Clubs Can My Child Sign Up For? How is Priority Given to Registrations when a Class is Over-Subscribed?
Each child may sign up for as many clubs as he/she would like. There may be some clubs that do fill up. Unless otherwise stated, priority will be given to the students in this order: 5th graders, 4th graders, 3rd graders, 2nd graders, 1st graders, Kindergarteners. If your child isn't able to join a club that you registered him/her for due to over-subscription your money will be refunded in full.
All club enrollments are first open to the current local student body of Bannockburn ES following the above priority schedule. Any remaining spaces may be filled on a "first come first serve basis" to any external registrants. Such registrants must be approved by the PTA-VP of Before and After School Activities. Once club enrollments have been closed no further admissions will be granted for any reason.

How Will My Child Get Home From the Club?
Clubs, unless otherwise stated, are dismissed at 4:45pm. There is no bus service. Children must be signed out by their responsible adult. Please do not be late. Our clubs are staffed by parent volunteers and they can not go home until all the children have been picked up.

Are Scholarships Available?
Yes. No student will be denied access to club activities for financial reasons. Financial scholarships are available and will be strictly confidential.
Please read the Scholarship Policy on our website. It can be found at: http://www.bannockburn-pta.org/clubsandactivites/schloarshippolicy.html.
Please contact either of the PTA Presidents (Lisa Sorkin or Allison Harrison) or Ms Whiting or Mr. Walder for additional information or an application.

Can I Get a Refund if My Child Changes His/Her Mind?
In most situations, class enrollment determines our ability to offer a class and pay our instructors. Because of this, there will be no refunds. If you find yourself in this situation, you can try to find another student to take your child's place but you would need to obtain approval from the club coordinator.

Are Parents Required to Volunteer?
In addition to paid instructors, clubs are staffed with parent volunteers. Parents of registered club members must be available to volunteer/staff club activities if needed. If you cannot participate or cannot make your designated day, it's your responsibility to find a suitable replacement. A missed obligation may result in the denial of any future PTA sponsored club enrollment and will be up to the discretion of the club chair and PTA Board. It is expected that volunteers will oversee the transition of students from the end of the school day and maintain order.
You will be contacted by the club's coordinator shortly after the registration process ends to schedule your volunteer commitment.

What is the Club Behavior Policy?
Students are expected to:
- Follow all directions given by the instructor,
- Treat others with respect,
- Keep hands, feet, and objects to himself/herself,
- Be where he/she belongs at all times, and
- Take responsibility for his/her behavior.
Club participants are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly. If a child is not willing or able to follow these expectations, the following consequences will result:
- 1st Time – Warning to student and parent;
- 2nd Time – Parents will be asked to accompany the child to class
- 3rd Time – The child's behavior will be reviewed by the club chair and PTA Board and may result in the student's dismissal from the club without reimbursement and the future enrollment of that student in PTA sponsored clubs will be up to the discretion of the club chair and PTA Board.

What Happens on an Early Release Day or if School is Cancelled?
Clubs do not meet on early release days. If school is cancelled or meets for only half a day because of a snow day, no clubs will be held. There has been a make-up day scheduled for each club.

My Child Goes To Bar-T. Can He/She Participate in Clubs?
Bar-T works with us to ensure that it is easy for students in Bar-T to participate in BES clubs. Any students that attend Bar-T will be picked up by a Bar-T representative at the end of the club. You will need to inform Bar-T that your child will be attending a weekly club.
Please note that BES Clubs are not to be considered an alternative for babysitting services. Unlike Bar-T, we are not licensed in that capacity. Rather, PTA sponsored before and after school clubs are opportunities for students to pursue interests that are not typically available during school hours.

The Clubs Start at 3:45pm but School Ends at 3:30pm. What does my child do during those 15 minutes?
You will need to inform your child's teacher with a note that your child is participating in an afterschool club. Please put the dates of the club on the note. Your child will be released to the “Clubs” line in the gym – instead of their regular bus line or the walker line. The daily parent volunteers for all the clubs will be there at 3:30pm to greet the children. They will collect the children for the clubs and escort them to the classrooms. Please remember to send your child with a bottle of water and a small easy-to-eat (and not messy!) snack.

I am Unable to Access the Internet. Can I Still Register My Child for Clubs?
Other registration options will only be available to families that have previously contacted the school and asked to receive hard-copy announcements.

What Happens if a Club Doesn't Meet Its Minimum Class Size?
Clubs cannot run at a loss. If there are not enough students to cover the costs of the club, the club will be cancelled. If you are unable or do not wish to enroll your child in a different club, we will offer you a refund.
